“You were the baby girl I dreamed of having when I was a little girl. You make my dreams come true every day.”

So I spoke to my mom this morning to wish her a happy mother’s day, but I’m in a finals coma at the moment, so I felt like I wasn’t really eloquent. So I posted this on her Facebook wall (yeah, my mom and I are facebook friends. What about it?):

Happy Mother’s Day! I spoke to you this morning, but just wanted to say again how much I love you and appreciate everything you’ve done for me the past 21 years (minus the egg salad incident). I would not have made it to graduation this may without your love and support. For every time I have been angry over something silly, there have been at least a dozen times where I have realized just how lucky I am to have you as my mother (and not just when you go Mamabear on Dr. Goodman or a Verizon salesperson). I definitely do not tell you this enough, but you really are the most incredible person I know, and my hero. I love you, and I’m sorry I’m in the middle of finals papers so I can’t be home with you today, but I will see you later this week!

Then I forgot about it and went back to work for a few hours. Just took a 5-minute break and went on facebook (and now tumblr), and my mom had written this in response:

You are the love of my life! You were the baby girl I dreamed of having when I was a little girl. You make my dreams come true everyday. I love you and your brother more than I thought I was ever capable of…thank you my smart, gorgeous, funny, compassionate wonderful baby girl. I love you so much. We will hug and kiss in a few weeks!

Not going to lie, I totally started crying in the middle of the computer lab. But that was the boost I needed to get back to work and feel good about the rest of the day. My mom is awesome, I meant every word of what I said, and the best part is that I know she did too.I wish everyone was as fortunate as I am to have someone like her in their life.
