Having watched Black Swan last night...
…I am incredibly disappointed. The trailers made this look so good, and in my opinion, it was really just a high-brow hybrid of Showgirls and Center Stage. I expected more from you, Mr. Aronofsky. I expected more from the man who created Requiem For a Dream.

This Is What Rape Culture Looks Like →
lenachen: I’m not going to comment on the Julian Assange case again, because I already did once (see preceding link) and if I have to read more rape-apologist bullshit, my head might explode. (My sinuses have already been numb since Tuesday, so I’m not going to do this to myself.) Instead, enjoy this post from robot-heart-politics: jgh-2: “The day we realized that liberal men don’t give a...

Finals week means:
(To be updated as I descend more thoroughly into finals-madness) Minimal sleep Maximal caffeine, in all forms. Coffee, tea, chocolate… I will resort to caffeine pills/gum if necessary.  More time spent in the library this week than the rest of the semester combined Catching up on no less that four tv shows during procrastination-time Uggs. Too much Uggs, in fact. I can’t help it....

Every episode of LOST is now streaming on Netflix! →
fuckyeahlost: P.S. In case you haven’t heard, they now offer a streaming-only plan for $7.99/month! This is a terrible thing to happen during finals week. There goes any chance of doing well this semester :P

Will the DEA shut down every major music festival... →
sunsmudge: “The seizure of the 352-acre Camp Zoe property in Southeast Missouri has so far garnered substantial attention both in America and internationally. That’s because this is no ordinary seizure; without (so far) being charged with a crime, the property owner, musician Jimmy Tebeau, is having his land taken from him in a process that strips him of his rights under both the US and...

Countering a message of hate with one of love
So… The Westboro “Baptist Church” came to Brandeis to spread their message of hate this morning. I say “Baptist Church” this way because I refuse to acknowledge them as an actual religious organization. Every Christian I know has said that these hatemongers hold nothing in common with the real Baptist Church. But I digress… Anyway, they were here this morning,...

Day With(out) Art →
“Day Without Art (DWA) began on December 1st 1989 as the national day of action and mourning in response to the AIDS crisis. To make the public aware that AIDS can touch everyone, and inspire positive action, some 800 U.S. art and AIDS groups participated in the first Day Without Art, shutting down museums, sending staff to volunteer at AIDS services, or sponsoring special exhibitions of...
